About the player
Mateus Souto Mide was born in Porto and joined the FC Porto academy at the age of four. His father is Brazilian; Mide himself is Portuguese. Twelve years on, he remains within the club's structure, now attached to FC Porto B and wearing the number 89 shirt, though he has yet to make an appearance for that side.
His football so far has been built at youth level. Across the 2024/25 season he was a regular for Porto's Under-19 side, playing 31 matches and contributing nine goals and five assists. In July 2025 the club moved to secure his future, signing him to a professional contract running to June 2027.
The clearest mark of his season came with the national team. In May 2025, Portugal won the Under-17 World Cup, and Mide was named the tournament's best player.
For now, the step up to first-team football at Porto B is still ahead of him.
