About the player
Four penalties in a row, four saves. In a Serbian Cup tie against Trajal, Matija Gočmanac became the first goalkeeper in Vojvodina's history to keep out four consecutive kicks in a single shootout, sending his side into the semi-finals. The club described the feat as written in "golden letters" in its history.
Gočmanac started out at Kopaonik Brus, moved to OFK Beograd and then to Partizan, who kept him on the senior roster from 2021 to 2023 without ever giving him a league appearance. His football in those years was played at Teleoptik, where he was sent on loan twice and made 48 appearances. He left Partizan as a free agent in the summer of 2023 and signed for Mačva Šabac, adding 18 games.
The move to Vojvodina came in the winter of 2024 and passed with little publicity in the Serbian press. It did not bring an immediate place either: he was loaned straight back to Mačva Šabac for six months and 16 further appearances before returning to Novi Sad for good. He has since made 17 appearances for the club.
With Serbia's under-19s he won the 27th Stevan Vilotić Ćele Memorial Tournament and was named the tournament's best goalkeeper. He travelled to the 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship as an emergency backup, and won his one under-21 cap in a friendly against North Macedonia on 11 November 2022.
An injury then cost him three months. He was back in pre-season training with Vojvodina in June 2025.
