Neris

Hueglo dos Santos Neris built his career the hard way, moving through Brazil's lower divisions and state championships for most of a decade before finding steadier ground abroad. He started out at Camboriú, then shuttled through Brusque, Avaí and Metropolitano before a two-year spell at Santa Cruz brought his first silverware: the Campeonato Pernambucano and Copa do Nordeste, both in 2016, alongside the Taça Chico Science.

A loan to Internacional in 2017 barely got going, limited to two appearances, and a move to Sport the same year was cut short by injuries after a single match — even so, he collected another Pernambucano title with the club. Paraná Clube followed in 2018, but it was Boavista in Portugal where Neris settled longest among his early stops, making 62 appearances over two seasons and adding a couple of goals from the back.

His career then took him further afield still, to the United Arab Emirates with Al-Wasl and on loan to Saudi Arabia's Al-Hazem. He returned to Brazil as a free agent to join Cruzeiro, where he made 43 appearances, before signing permanently with Vitória in July 2024. In 2026 he won the Copa do Nordeste with them. That summer he moved on again, to Fortaleza, taking the number 23 shirt.

Neris has never been capped by Brazil at any level, senior or youth. His story is instead one of steady clubside accumulation — a defender who kept working through loans, short stints and long-distance transfers, picking up regional honours along the way rather than a single defining moment.
