About the player
The nickname says more than the family name ever did — Severino do Ramo Clementino da Silva has played almost his entire career as Nino Paraíba, a reminder of where he started, in Rio Tinto. He came through Vitória's academy and made his first-team debut there in 2006, but it took a loan to Sousa and a state title in 2009 before the move back to Vitória turned into six years as a regular, 203 appearances.
Ponte Preta and then Bahia followed, and it was at Bahia that his career reached its peak: three seasons, 193 matches, seven goals and a Copa do Nordeste. In 2015 he was named third-best right-back in ESPN's Bola de Prata voting.
Then the ground shifted. In 2023, while on the books at Paysandu and Atlético Mineiro, Nino Paraíba was implicated in the match-fixing investigation known as Operação Penalidade Máxima and handed a 720-day ban.
The ban expired in 2025, and Cuiabá gave him the route back, 26 appearances.
