About the player
The Bronze Boot at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup came Óscar Cortés's way after a run of goals in Argentina, and it followed a scoring spell at the South American U-20 Championship earlier the same year.
He came out of Millonarios, debuting in January 2022 and collecting the Copa Colombia that year, then the Categoría Primera A Apertura title in 2023. In June 2023 he made his senior debut for Colombia against Iraq. A month later, RC Lens paid a reported €4.4 million for him.
In February 2024 he went to Rangers on loan, and the arrangement was extended through 2024–25 with an obligation to buy attached. Rangers took him permanently on 1 July 2025 for a fee reported at £4.5 million.
What followed was a stretch of movement rather than settled football. He joined Sporting de Gijón on loan in September 2025, was recalled in January 2026, and was sent out again almost immediately — to Huracán for the remainder of the 2026 season.
The right-footed forward from Tumaco has also worn Colombia's colours at U-20, U-23 and senior level.
