About the player
Ömürcan Artan came up through Gençlerbirliği's academy after passing through the Mamak and Başkent Edaşspor youth ranks in Ankara, and he stayed with the Ankara club long enough to make it his professional home ground. A loan spell at Hacettepe gave him regular first-team minutes early on, and he returned to Gençlerbirliği to make his Süper Lig debut in December 2020, going on to make more than 40 appearances for the senior side.
A free transfer took him to Gaziantep FK in 2022 on a four-year contract, though a mid-season loan to Tuzlaspor interrupted his time there before he settled into a regular run in Gaziantep's league side. He moved on again in 2025, joining Boluspor as a free agent on a one-year deal.
The detail that stands out on Artan's record is not silverware — he has none at club level — but longevity in Turkey's second tier. He holds the record for the most TFF 1. Lig appearances among players at Turkish clubs, a figure above 168 matches built up steadily rather than in one dramatic run. He has represented Turkey at every youth level from under-16 to under-21, without a senior call-up to date.
At Boluspor he has been a fixture at right-back, with a goal to his name along the way. Every one of his moves since leaving Gençlerbirliği's academy system has come as a free agent, a pattern that has shaped a career built less on transfer fees than on simply staying on the pitch.
