About the player
He followed it with four goals in 2023 before a move abroad arrived.
Portuguese side Famalicão signed him in July 2023 on a four-year contract, and he debuted in the Primeira Liga that August against Braga. First-team opportunities proved limited — twelve league appearances in his first season, five in his second — and the club sent him out on loan to find regular football. At IFK Värnamo in 2025 he scored three goals in thirteen matches.
That loan spell led to another, at Halmstads BK from March 2026, where he added two goals in nine appearances before the arrangement ended in August. Famalicão then sold him on to IK Sirius.
Liimatta has yet to be capped by Finland's senior side, rising through the U15 to U21 age groups.
