About the player
At the 2024 Under-20 World Cup, Pietra Tordin scored four goals in seven matches, a haul that included a hat-trick against Paraguay. The United States took bronze.
She had arrived at that squad only months earlier. Tordin holds dual American and Brazilian citizenship, and in December 2023 she played a friendly for Brazil's under-20 side against France, scoring in a 1-1 draw. Her debut came the following month against Colombia, and she scored the winning goal. By March 2026 she had 11 caps and six goals at that level, along with three appearances for the under-23 side and call-ups to camps in January 2025, November 2025 and April 2026. She has not been called into the senior national team.
The college record behind that is a short one: three seasons at Princeton, 45 matches, 30 goals. She was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2022 and made the first-team all-conference side in 2023 and 2024. In one 2023 match she scored four times, equalling a Princeton record. Her final year brought the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year award, and both the regular-season and tournament championships. She had been named a third-team All-American the season before.
Tordin left Princeton early to turn professional, signing with Portland Thorns FC as a free agent on 8 January 2025 on a two-year deal with an option. Before college she came through Sunrise Prime FC in the ECNL. On 17 July 2026 the Thorns extended her contract through the end of the 2029 season.
