About the player
Karlsruher SC gave Rafael Pinto Pedrosa his professional debut on 13 September 2024, sending him on as an 87th-minute substitute in a 2–0 win over Schalke 04 in the 2. Bundesliga. It capped a progression through the club's own academy. The following spring, on 26 April 2025, he signed a long-term contract with Karlsruher, tying the right-back to the club that raised him.
His route to that first-team appearance ran partly through the reserves, where he featured for Karlsruher SC II in the Oberliga during the 2024–25 season, picking up regular senior football outside the league structure while waiting for further opportunities with the main squad.
Pinto Pedrosa, who holds dual German and Portuguese citizenship, has also built a record with Germany's youth sides. He was capped four times by the U17s in 2024, added four more appearances for the U18s across 2024 and 2025, and has gone on to make over 13 appearances for the U19s since 2025. He was part of the Germany U19 squad that reached the final of the 2026 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Wales, where they lost 2–0 to Spain.
