Robin Himmelmann

After coming through several youth sides in and around his native Moers, he joined Rot-Weiss Essen's academy and made his senior debut there in 2008, playing 18 matches in the Regionalliga before the club went bankrupt. He moved on to Schalke 04's second team, where he made 33 appearances, before signing for FC St. Pauli on a free transfer in 2012.

St. Pauli became the defining spell of his career. He did not become first choice straight away, working his way to the number one shirt in the 2014/15 season, and went on to make 179 league appearances for the club over nine years. His contract was terminated in January 2021, ending that run.

Since leaving Hamburg, Himmelmann has moved between clubs on short deals, each on a free transfer: a spell at Belgian side KAS Eupen brought 15 appearances, a short-term contract at Holstein Kiel in 2023 produced nine matches, and a brief stint at 1. FC Kaiserslautern in early 2024 added three more before he joined Karlsruher SC in the summer of that year. He has not been capped by Germany at any level, senior or youth, and has not won a major title or individual award.

Away from the pitch, Himmelmann put his name to a project outside football, publishing a café voucher book called Café Glück in 2014–2015.
