About the player
Raffaele Romano was one of the two names Benevento's promotion hung on. His contract runs to 30 June 2028.
Romano came through the academy at Frosinone , playing in the Primavera sides until 2024.
At Benevento he has been used across the back line. Centre-back is his main position, but he can fill in at full-back on either flank. In 2025/26 he made 23 appearances in Serie C Group C for 897 minutes, with one assist, against Casarano.
That season ended with two trophies: Benevento won Serie C Group C in 2026 and took the Supercoppa di Serie C the same year. Scouts from Parma and Cagliari have watched him.
In 2026/27 he has so far featured in one Coppa Italia match, and scored in it. He has not been called up by Italy at any level, senior or youth.
