About the player
Scouts at PSV Eindhoven first noticed Tijn Smolenaars at a local tournament in 2013, when he was eight years old.
That steady progression has continued at Jong PSV, where he has worn the number one shirt, before a step up to the first-team squad brought a new shirt number, 51, for the 2026/27 season.
International recognition has been limited so far. Smolenaars has made two appearances for the Netherlands under-18 side, debuting against the Faroe Islands in September 2022. The following March he featured at the Football Federations Cup in Dubai, where the Dutch under-18s beat the United Arab Emirates 2-1.
Standing at 197cm, he operates as a right-footed goalkeeper.
