About the player
Ticho de Wit came through AZ Alkmaar's academy after being spotted, aged eight, on the television talent show The Scouts, which brought him and his twin brother Hessel to the club in 2017 from amateur sides RKAVIC and AFC in Amstelveen. He worked through every age group at AZ, from the under-11s to the under-19s, alongside his brother.
The clearest marker of his progress so far came in the UEFA Youth League, where he scored the winning goal in a 2-1 win over Aston Villa's under-19 side, sending AZ through to the knockout stage of the competition. He was also among the leading scorers for AZ's under-19 side in the opening half of the Eredivisie youth season. That form earned him a first call-up to the Netherlands under-17 side, where he made his international debut, and he later featured in a UEFA pre-tournament fixture in Cyprus.
In November 2025, De Wit was named among the substitutes for Jong AZ's Eerste Divisie fixture against MVV Maastricht, though he did not come off the bench. He has since begun to feature more regularly for the reserve side, appearing in three matches without registering a goal or an assist. In December 2025, he and his brother both signed contract extensions with AZ, tying them to the club until the summer of 2030.
His route to the first team remains at an early stage, with his output so far concentrated at youth level rather than in senior football.
