Diego Ulises Ortegoza

Ulises Ortegoza took the long way into professional football, making his debut for Club Atlético Los Andes only at the age of 21, as the club slid into Argentina's third tier. A brief stint at Gimnasia de Mendoza followed, where he scored six times in seventeen appearances, before a move to Talleres Córdoba in June 2022 turned into the longest and most productive spell of his career.

Over four seasons at Talleres, Ortegoza made 148 appearances and scored four goals. The high point came almost as soon as he arrived: a runner-up finish in the 2022 Copa Argentina, coming on as a substitute in the 65th minute of the final against Patronato, which Talleres lost 0-1.

Born in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, Ortegoza holds Chilean nationality through his paternal grandmother, and that connection opened an unexpected door in October 2024, when Ricardo Gareca called him up to the Chile squad for World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Brazil. He made his international debut against Colombia, replacing Erick Pulgar in the 84th minute — his only cap to date.

In June 2026, Ortegoza left Talleres for Racing Club in a transfer valued at around 1.5 million dollars, closing out a spell in Córdoba that had taken him from a domestic cup final to the Chilean national team.
