About the player
Valentina Pötzl came into the women's game from a village, not a city. She is from Eckartsau in Lower Austria, and it was at SCG CONSULT/R Eckartsau that she first played football and learned it.
From there she moved into the ÖFB Frauen-Akademie, and the national youth teams followed. She won 23 caps for the Austria U17 side and scored once. She then made seven appearances for the U19s. She has not yet played for the senior national team.
Her first senior contract came in June 2025, when she signed for First Vienna FC 1894. A midfielder who is right-footed and stands 160 cm, she played seven matches in the 2025/26 Frauen Bundesliga. She did not score in the league, and First Vienna finished fourth.
In July 2026 she moved to FK Austria Wien Women ahead of the 2026/27 season. Her shirt there is number 29. She has since played for Austria in the UEFA Women's Champions League as well as in the Frauen Bundesliga.
She has yet to win a major club title or an individual award. At 17 she is still at the start of a senior career.
