About the player
Chile gave Yorman Zapata Mina his football. He came through the youth system of Universidad Católica without ever playing a senior match for the club, which kept 25% of his economic rights when he moved on. The senior debut came instead at Magallanes , on 17 August 2019.
He finished with 27 goals in 122 appearances across all competitions before Magallanes were relegated at the end of 2023.
In February 2024 he joined the Argentine club Defensa y Justicia on a one-year loan with an option to buy, and left after six appearances and one goal. He was back in Chile by July 2024, signing for O'Higgins on a free transfer, and stayed there until July 2025. A spell at Deportes Limache saw out the 2025 season. On 1 January 2026 he signed for Deportivo Moquegua in the Peruvian Liga 1 , on a contract running to 31 December 2026.
He has not been selected by Colombia at senior, under-23 or under-20 level. Zapata has said publicly that he would like to play for Chile , arguing that the country "opened the doors" to his career and that naturalisation would make his professional path there easier.
