About the player
Yan Zhang's career began at Beijing Guoan, where he spent time in the senior squad between 2016 and 2018 and won the Chinese FA Cup with the club without making a league appearance. He moved on to Jiangsu Suning in July 2018, going on to make 17 appearances in total and serving as second-choice goalkeeper when the club won the Chinese Super League title in 2020.
After Jiangsu Suning's dissolution, Yan signed for Chengdu Rongcheng on a free transfer in April 2021. He established himself as a regular starter, made 59 appearances in total, and helped the club earn promotion to the Chinese Super League. He left Chengdu Rongcheng at the end of his contract and joined Liaoning Tieren, then known as Shenyang Urban, in January 2026.
At international level, Yan has represented China at youth level, with one cap for the under-19 side in 2018 and further appearances for the under-21 and under-23 squads between 2018 and 2022. He has not been capped by the senior national team.
