About the player
At fourteen, Yoan Pereira left the Luxembourgish club football he had grown up in — spells at CS Oberkorn, FC Rodange and RFCU Luxembourg — for FC Porto's academy. Born in Luxembourg and eligible for both Portugal and Luxembourg through his dual nationality, he arrived at Porto via a brief stop at SC Alba before settling into the club's youth ranks.
The progression since has been steady rather than dramatic. He worked through Porto's U19 side and was part of the group that won the Portuguese championship at that level. From there he stepped up to FC Porto B, the club's reserve side, where he has featured six times this season wearing the number 55 shirt.
Porto's decision to tie him down came in December 2024, when the club had him sign his first professional contract, running until 2031. A left-footed defender, he is used primarily at left-back, with the versatility to be pushed further forward on the wing when needed.
He has not yet been capped by either Portugal or Luxembourg at senior international level, and his path for now remains tied to Porto B.
