Recreation Park sits a short walk from the centre of Alloa, with room for 3,100. Most of that is standing space, roughly 2,195 places on the terraces against 905 seats. Sponsors currently call it the Indodrill Stadium, though locals still use the older name.

The club began in 1878 as Clackmannan County and took the name Alloa Athletic five years later. It waited until 1921 to join the Scottish Football League, then won Division Two at the first attempt. Willie Crilley scored 49 goals that same season, a club record that has stood ever since.

John White came through Alloa in the 1950s before moving on to Tottenham Hotspur, where he was part of the side that won the League and Cup double in 1960/61, and won caps for Scotland. Scott Bain went the other way as a boy, joining the academy between 2011 and 2013 before spells at Dundee and Celtic and a place in the Scotland squad. Willie Irvine remains the club's record goalscorer, with 91 goals in an Alloa shirt.

Paul Hartley took Alloa up two divisions in successive seasons between 2011 and 2013. The Third Division title came twice, in 1998 and 2012. The Challenge Cup was won once, in 1999/2000, with two further final appearances since. In February 1955, Recreation Park held 15,467 people for a Scottish Cup tie against Celtic, still the ground's record attendance. Alloa lost 2-4.

In the Scottish Cup itself, the furthest Alloa have gone is the quarter-final, reached three times since the 1930s and never beyond.
