Argentina U19

There is no founding charter behind this side, no clubhouse to point to — the Argentine Football Association assembles it fresh for each cycle, drawing on whichever players sit in the under-19 bracket when the CONMEBOL calendar and the South American Youth Games call. The senior side traces back to 1902 and the federation itself to 1893, but the age group has no date of its own; it exists only for the length of a tournament, then dissolves back into the pyramid.

That pyramid is the point. Players move through it on their way somewhere else: Ángel Di María wore the shirt in 2006, one stop among several that also produced Messi, Maradona and Saviola. The under-19s are a corridor, not a destination.

They train at the Predio de Ezeiza, the same complex that houses every Argentina national side, and their results read as a long argument with Brazil and Uruguay — the Río de la Plata meetings against the Uruguayans carry the weight in this bracket that the senior fixtures carry higher up. At the South American Youth Games the team has been a fixture on the podium without quite topping it: silver in 2013, bronze in 2017, bronze in 2022, silver again in 2026, beaten 1-0 by Paraguay in that final.
