BK Ogre

When Ogre's city council set out to give the town a senior basketball team in 2014, it was not starting from scratch. A team from the local Ogres basketball school had already spent five years in the second-tier LBL2, and its players and staff carried straight over into the new club, BK Ogre, in blue and white.

Bronze has become the club's habit there. Ogre finished third in 2018–19, beating BK Jūrmala 3–0 in the medal series after Jūrmala had eliminated them in previous campaigns, and took bronze again in 2021–22; a third series, against BK Liepāja in 2020–21, was cancelled when the pandemic ended the season early but is still counted among the club's medals. In 2024–25 they reached the playoff semi-finals once more, only to lose the bronze match to Kalev/Cramo 85–87.

Liepāja and Jūrmala remain the games that matter most to Ogre, fixtures that regularly decide who reaches the medal rounds; matches against the Riga clubs draw no such weight. Rinalds Sirniņš, once a national team player himself, now runs team affairs as manager, while captain Guntis Sīpoliņš leads a squad built around imports such as Drake Dobbs and Owen Lobsinger. It is still, at its core, the team the basketball school in Ogre once put out on the floor.
