Broke Boys

Broke Boys spent this August under a borrowed name in the Russian Cup: entered as Fankom Broke Boys, in union with the Kirov amateur side Fankom, the club went out in the second round of the Path of Regions on 12 August 2026, beaten 0:2 by Dynamo Kirov. A year earlier the same competition had taken them all the way to the fourth round before Sokol ended the run 0:2.

The club itself dates to 1 April 2022, put together by sports journalist Dmitry Yegorov and the blogger Artyom Kuzmin, who goes by Rizen. It plays in the Media Football League, and although Moscow is listed as home, training and home matches are held at the Central Stadium in Odintsovo, a 2,500-seat ground.

The league has given the club its clearest identity. In 2024, Broke Boys won the fifth MFL season, beating 2Drots 3:0 in the final — the same 2Drots against whom their meetings are billed as the Kazan derby. Other finals have gone the other way: Titan beat them on penalties to take the fourth season, and Amkal did the same in the sixth.

The squad has since added faces from outside the media game. Forward Fyodor Smolov, once of the Russia national team, joined in 2025, alongside the Brazilian former international Ari.

With the cup campaign over, the club's attention turns back to the league season ahead.
