Chaco For Ever sits in Primera Nacional, the promotion earned on 5 December 2021 with a 1-0 win over Gimnasia y Tiro de Salta in the final for the second promotion spot.
The club exists because a group of members walked out of Club Atlético Sarmiento over an argument about who should pay for travel to away matches. They split on 27 July 1913, and when it came to naming the new side, the first idea, Chaco San Fernando, was rejected for saying nothing about permanence. A municipal employee remembered locally as Míster King proposed the fix: Chaco For Ever. Chaco, forever. No other Argentine club carries an English name like it.
It gave the club its nicknames, El Negro and Albinegro.
Promotion to the top flight has happened once. Chaco For Ever won the 1988-89 Primera B Nacional on the last matchday, beating Lanús 1-0 on 27 May 1989, and spent the following two seasons in Primera División before dropping back down. At home, in the Liga Chaqueña, the club has been champion 34 times.
Matches are played at the Estadio Juan Alberto García in Resistencia, capacity 23,000.
