Racing de Córdoba shares its home city with Belgrano, Talleres and Instituto.

Founded on 14 December 1924 in Barrio Inglés, later renamed Barrio Pueyrredón, Racing has stayed a second-tier fixture for most of its history, currently playing in the Primera Nacional. No national title or cup appears on its record; a run in the 2018 Copa Argentina, including a tie against San Lorenzo, ended without silverware. The club goes by La Academia now, though older Cordobese sources once linked it to the nickname El Matador — a claim Racing pressed in 1968 when it accused Tigre of borrowing the tag.

Home matches are played at Estadio Miguel Sancho, in the Nueva Italia district, opened on 27 May 1948 and renamed in 1976 for a former club president. Capacity estimates vary by source, from 15,000 up to 22,000, a spread common to grounds that have never had a single definitive count published.

What the club has not built is a public-facing infrastructure to match its age: no official website turns up under any of the obvious domain names, and outside coverage runs largely through fan blogs rather than club channels. A century on from Barrio Inglés, Racing remains defined less by what it has won than by the derby it keeps showing up for.
