Chiba Jets Funabashi have won the Emperor's Cup five times, in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024, but the title that changed how the club was seen came in the 2020–21 season, when they took the B.League championship after a run that included setting a league record the previous year with 50 regular-season wins. That season also brought a final MVP award for the centre Sebas Saiz, and the club added a continental line to its record in 2023–24 by winning the East Asia Super League.

The Jets started out in 2005 under a plainer name and only became Chiba Jets Funabashi in July 2017, tightening the bond with the city that a hometown agreement had set out two years earlier. Ownership passed more firmly into the hands of Mixi, the social network operator, once it bought into the operating company in 2019, and the company's money has shaped the club's recent direction as much as anything on the court.

Yuki Togashi has been the closest thing to a constant through the winning years: named league MVP in 2019 and finals MVP of the East Asia Super League in 2024, with eight selections to the league's best five in between. Yuta Watanabe's return in 2024, after stints with four NBA clubs including the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets, gave the roster a player who had tested himself at a level few in Japanese basketball ever reach.

In May 2024 the club left Funabashi Arena, which held around 5,000, for the newly built LaLa arena TOKYO-BAY in Minami-Funabashi, more than doubling capacity to 11,000. The move against Tochigi Brex still carries the sharpest edge of any fixture on the calendar, an old rivalry from the club's early years in the league. Chiba now goes into each season in the Premier division expected to contend again, with the Emperor's Cup and a return to the B.League final among the targets it sets itself.
