Chlumec nad Cidlinou

Chlumec nad Cidlinou came closest to breaking into Czech football's professional tiers in the 2020/21 season of the Česká fotbalová liga, the third level of the pyramid, finishing runner-up in group B. At the level immediately below its own region, the Krajský přebor, the team never managed a title at all, its best finishes a sixth place in 2018/19 and a seventh the year before. In the Czech Cup, Chlumec reached the last sixteen in 2019/20, having faced FK Příbram and Bohemians Praha 1905 along the way.

The club traces back to 4 June 1906, when it was founded as SK Chlumec nad Cidlinou. It became AFK Chlumec nad Cidlinou in 1924, and played through the socialist era as Spartak Chlumec nad Cidlinou. The pitch moved several times before the team found its current ground: matches were first played on the market square by the old castle, then on rented land by the communal forest, before unpaid rent forced a move to a patch of waste ground in the Lípky district in 1919. A year later the club got a field of its own at Skalky, and since 1939 it has been based at what is now the Městský fotbalový stadion Chlumec, which holds 2,700.

Between 1997 and 2014, the club's second team merged with the side from the neighbouring village of Klamoš, playing under a joint name on Klamoš's own pitch. In 1964, Dukla Jičín was relocated to the town but never merged with the main club, and folded on its own within a short time. Chlumec plays in black and white, and is known locally as the Černobílí — the black-and-whites.
