Cska Pomir Dushanbe Women

The women's side from Dushanbe spent August 2026 in a competition it had never entered before, the AFC Women's Champions League, and it played those matches away from home — not abroad, but 20 kilometres west, at Hisor Central Stadium in Hisor. The club's own ground, the CSKA Stadium of the Tajik defence ministry, known locally as the Politekhnikum, stayed dark for the occasion.

That ground is the inheritance the women's team plays on. It belongs to CSKA-Pamir, the army club founded in Dushanbe in 1950, and its capacity has never been settled in one figure — estimates run from 2,000 up to 7,000, which tells you something about how the place has been counted and recounted over the decades rather than about how many turn up.

Domestically, the record is plain: no league title. Since 2018 the Tajik women's championship has gone elsewhere, most persistently to Zeboniso, the side that later took the name of the capital itself, and to Khatlon. CSKA-Pamir's women have been the club with the stadium and the crest, not the trophies.

The squad assembled for the continental debut was not built only from Dushanbe. Aishatu Simpson kept goal; Cecilia Nyama led the line; Erika Akkon worked the midfield and Ruzeeguli Hasan the defence. It is a mixture of imported forwards and local defenders, the kind of squad a club puts together when it has one competition it badly wants to be ready for.

The armband went to Sayyora Saidova, and she is the name that carries here. When the club walked out for its first match in Asia's premier women's competition, she led it out — a Tajik captain at the head of a side that had waited 76 years, counting from the founding of the club whose colours it wears, for a fixture of that weight.
