Etihad Club Women

Omar Hadid set up a women's football academy in Amman and called it 6 Yard. For its first years that is what it was — an academy, playing in the second tier. Promotion in 2022 changed the terms: the side went up, and with the step into the top flight came a new name, Etihad Club, and a company behind it.

What followed came quickly. The league title arrived in 2023, then again in 2024 and 2025 — three in a row.

The individual awards tell the same story from another angle. In 2023 the league's leading scorer, Leila Iskandar, and its best goalkeeper, Shireen Al-Shalabi, both came from Etihad's squad. Two years later May Sweleem took the Golden Boot and was named player of the season.

The cup record is shorter and more pointed. Etihad beat Amman FC 5-0 in the final to take their second Women's Jordan Cup — the same Amman FC they meet in the regional derby.

In the 2024/25 season the club entered the preliminary round of the AFC Women's Champions League.

Home is not in Amman at all. Etihad play at Prince Mohammad Stadium in Zarqa, a ground that holds 17,000.
