Durham

For over a century that identity was a minor one: Durham won the Minor Counties Championship seven times between 1901 and 1984 and once went 65 matches unbeaten between 1976 and 1982.

First-class status changed that in 1991, the first time a new county had been admitted to that tier since Glamorgan seventy years earlier, and Durham played its first such match against Leicestershire in 1992. The County Championship followed twice, under Dale Benkenstein and then Will Smith in 2008 and 2009, before a side built almost entirely from the club's own academy, captained by Paul Collingwood, won it again in 2013.

The limited-overs side, known as the Durham Dynamos until the Twenty20 team was rebranded the Durham Jets in 2014. Promotion back to Division One came in 2023.

The ground itself holds 5,000 for a county match and can be built up to 17,000 for internationals. A Twenty20 Blast title is the one honour Durham has yet to win.
