Estrella play in Aruba's Division di Honor, one of the island's oldest clubs still competing at the top level, carrying the district of Papilon in Santa Cruz with them into every season.

The club's honours board runs deep for a country this size: twelve league titles, spread from the late 1960s through 2006, with the most recent coming that year. Between those two ends sits a run through the 1980s and 1990s when the orange shirts took the title in six seasons out of a dozen years — 1985, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1992 and 1996 among them. In 1970, before Aruba split from the Netherlands Antilles as a football federation, Estrella also won the Kopa Antiano, the regional championship shared across the islands.

Home matches are played at the Guillermo Próspero Trinidad Stadium in Oranjestad, a ground that holds around 5,500.

The team's nickname, Naranjada di Santa Cruz — the Oranges of Santa Cruz — comes straight from the kit: orange shirt and shorts, blue socks. Among the players who came through the club is Juan "Djuu" Rasmijn, who holds the scoring record in the Aruban championship play-offs.

Estrella was founded on 1 September 1948, in Papilon, the Santa Cruz neighbourhood the club has never left.
