La Fama sits in the Division di Honor this season, Aruba's top flight, carrying a squad built around imports from Canada, Venezuela, the Netherlands, Haiti, Colombia and Jamaica under head coach Jhonny van Beukering. Getting there is itself the story of the last few years: the club won back-to-back Liga Honor Plata titles in 2022–23 and 2023–24, the second tier's promotion route, before it could compete again at the top.
The town gave the club its identity before any trophy did. A single Division di Honor title, in 2012/13, remains the club's high point at that level; two Division Uno championships, in 1973 and 2002, mark the years it climbed out of the lower divisions before that. The Copa Betico Croes has been less kind: four runs to the final, in 2009, 2020, 2021 and 2026, and no cup to show for any of them.
Joel Rodriguez ran the midfield through that lean cup stretch, from 2009 to 2020, and earned two caps for Aruba along the way — the kind of long, unglamorous service a small club depends on more than it depends on any one trophy.
No name has ever attached itself to the fixture.
