FBK Karlstad

For most of its life, FBK Karlstad's real opponent has been the Swedish divisional ladder itself rather than any single local rival. The pattern repeated one tier up — Division 3 Västra Svealand was won in 1998, then again in 2016 on goal difference with 52 points, and a third time in 2022.

That third promotion proved to be the start of something different. Rather than settling back into Division 2, the club finished second in Division 2 Norra Götaland in 2023 and took a vacancy spot into Division 1, the third tier of Swedish football, in 2024.

Founded in 1971, FBK Karlstad plays in red and white, with black socks completing the home kit, at Örsholmen IP, a ground that holds 1,500 with room to expand to 2,500. The supporters' section takes its name directly from the founding year, FBK sektion1971. Among the players who came through the club, Per Frick moved on to IF Elfsborg and Sebastian Karlsson went on to Degerfors IF and Landskrona BOIS.

What the club has not done is win anything at national level.
