Fenerbahce Women

Kadıköy sits on the Asian side of Istanbul, and the women's team plays its home matches there, on the training complex named after Lefter Küçükandonyadis. That geography is the whole point of the fixture against Galatasaray, whose base lies across the water on the European side: the meeting is known as the Intercontinental Derby.

The section existed once before. It was set up on 4 April 1995, finished second in its first championship and third the season after, then was wound up in 1997 for reasons of money. Nothing followed for more than two decades.

The rebuild came on 26 August 2021, and by September the Turkish Football Federation had cleared the club to enter the new Kadınlar Süper Ligi directly, without working up through the divisions. Fenerbahçe won group A at the first attempt and went out in the semi-finals. Kenya Cordner, the Australian forward, scored 32 goals that season.

Then came the near misses. Second in 2022–23, third the following year, second again in 2024–25. Yağmur Uraz, the captain, top-scored with 25 in 2023–24.

The barren spell ended in 2025–26, when Fenerbahçe took the Turkish women's championship for the first time and, with it, a first meaningful entry into European competition.
