Gimle BBK

Gimle grew out of Gimle School in 1972, and by 1984 its students-turned-club had built their own hall rather than rent one — Gimlehallen still holds 1,600 and remains the address for anyone following the sport in the city.

The championship record explains the standing: three BLNO titles, in 2013–14, 2021–22 and 2022–23, the first of them sealed with a 102–68 defeat of Ammerud Basket Oslo. The 2021–22 season stands apart: Gimle added the Norwegian Cup to the league title.

Lars Espe carries the club's name furthest. He came through Gimle between 2014 and 2018 before leaving for the University of Montana in the NCAA, and he has stayed the reference point for the national team since.

With three league titles now in hand and a cup won outright, the immediate question for Gimle is no longer domestic dominance but whether that form travels.
