Mito's team has spent every season since 2021–22 in the B.League's top flight — sixth, eighth, seventh — without yet reaching a final.

The club began in 2013 as the Tsukuba Robots and carried that town's name for three seasons before the move to Mito in 2016 brought the current identity. The name itself comes from CyberDyne, the exoskeleton-robotics firm that sponsors the club, a fit with a region known for robotics research. Blue, Ibaraki's prefectural colour, and an orange drawn from the local Fukure mandarin make up the kit.

Promotion to B1 followed in 2021–22.

Games against Tochigi Brex and the Gunma Crane Thunders carry the weight of the Kitakanto rivalry, the Northern Kanto clubs measuring themselves against each other more than against the rest of the division.

Captain Atsunobu Hirao is the name most tied to the club's B1 years.
