Järfälla

Jakobsberg is one of the district centres that make up Järfälla, the municipality just northwest of Stockholm, and its football club has spent most of its life at a level that draws little attention outside the commune. FC Järfälla itself is a product of local consolidation: the men's sections of Jakobsbergs GoIF and IK Söderhöjden/Wasa merged in 1993, and a decade later, in 2003, Jakobsbergs GoIF's women's section joined the same club.

For years the ceiling was Division 4, with league titles in that tier in 1993, 1996, 2016 and 2019, and only one real venture higher — an eighth-place finish in Division II's Östra Svealand zone in 1999, followed by relegation after finishing twelfth the year after. The club spent much of the 2010s sliding rather than climbing, dropping as low as Division 5 by 2014.

The turn came in the 2020s. Promotion to Division 2 followed in 2021, and Division 3 Norra Svealand was won in 2020. Then, in 2025, FC Järfälla topped Division 2 Norra Svealand and with it secured a place in Ettan Norra for the 2026 season — the first time in the club's history it will play above the third tier.

Matches are played at Järfällavallen on Mjölnarvägen in Jakobsberg, a ground that holds around 1,000 spectators. One name from the academy travelled further than most: Oliver Kass Kawo, born in nearby Barkarby, played 15 games and scored twice for FC Järfälla in 2021 and 2022 before moves to FC Helsingør, Dalkurd FF and IFK Haninge, and on to Finland's FF Jaro for 2026. He has since gone on to represent Syria at international level, scoring against Tunisia at the 2021 Arab Cup.

Founded in 1993, the club heads into 2026 in a division it has never reached before.
