Lago Verde

The Torneio da Integração in 2005 ended level at 2-2 against Sampaio Corrêa, one of the biggest names in Maranhão football, and went to penalties. Boa Vontade, as the club was still called, won the shootout 8-7.

Those came in 1992, 1994, 1998 and 2004, all under the Boa Vontade name in São Luís, where the side played at the Estádio Nhozinho Santos. In 1995 the club stepped up to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. It shares a state league with Sampaio Corrêa and Moto Club.

The women's side ran a strong stretch of its own. It won the Campeonato Maranhense de Futebol Feminino in 2007 and again in 2008, and in 2008 reached the semi-finals of the Copa do Brasil de Futebol Feminino. A decade later, in 2018, it entered the Copa Nordeste de Futebol Feminino but went out in the group stage.

The club now plays in the second division of the Campeonato Maranhense. In May 2025 it took the name Lago Verde Esporte Clube and moved its headquarters from São Luís to the municipality of Lago Verde. Home games are at the Estádio Municipal Marcos Pinheiro Neto, known as Pinheirão, which holds about 2,000. The colours are green and white.

Before all of that, on 1 June 1957, the club was founded in São Luís as Esporte Clube Boa Vontade.
