Timon MA

Timon TEC finished top of the Campeonato Maranhense Série B, only for the Maranhão Sports Justice Tribunal to strip the club of 16 points over irregularities, sending them down to the third tier instead of up.

The club was founded on 26 September 2005 and plays in blue, white and green. It shares its home city with Esporte Clube Timon, an entirely separate outfit that competes across the state line in the Campeonato Piauiense — a coincidence of geography that regularly confuses outsiders but has nothing to do with TEC's own record.

Locally the club goes by Papagaio dos Cocais, the parrot of the coconut palms, alongside the plainer initials TEC. Matches are played at the Estádio Miguel Lima, which holds around 1,200 people.

Relegated after a title it had already won on the pitch, Timon is back to rebuilding through the state's lower tiers, with Bacabal still the club it measures itself against.
