In 2023, Linfield's players asked for a change: white home shorts swapped for dark ones. The same year the club dropped "Ladies" from its name altogether, becoming Linfield FC Women.
The women's side plays under the banner of a club that goes back to March 1886, when workers at the Linfield Spinning Mill in Belfast formed the football team. Exactly when the women's section followed is not recorded, though it has been a fixture of Northern Ireland's top flight since at least 2013. Home games are played at New Midgley Park, a training ground beside Windsor Park that holds around 200 people.
Between 2016 and 2019, Linfield Women won four straight league titles, with Phil Lewis in charge for the run and its League Cup win in 2018.
