Marília

Before it carried the city's name, the club answered to trade: it began among Marília's business community as Esporte Clube Comercial. Members switched the name to Marília Atlético Clube on 11 July 1947, five years after the club had been founded on 12 April 1942.

Professional status followed in 1953, but by 1954 the club had been disqualified after crowd trouble, and by 1958 it had dropped back into amateur football altogether. It did not return as a club proper until 1969, and reached the top flight of the Campeonato Paulista for the first time in 1971. Relegation followed twice, in 1994-96 and again in 2011.

The best domestic season came in 2002: the Paulista Série A2 title at home, and a runner-up finish in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C nationally. Marília reached the Copa Paulista final in 2020 and made its first Copa do Brasil appearance the following year. The club now plays in the Paulista A3.

Home matches go on at the Estádio Bento de Abreu Sampaio Vidal, known locally as Abreuzão, which holds 15,010 under the club's blue and white. The nickname Tigrão, after a tiger mascot, gave supporters their own name, Maqueano. The youth ranks sent Jorginho through in the 1970s, and Luiz Andrade came up the same way to win the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior with the club in 1979, under long-serving youth coach Carlão.

Trade gave the club its start; football gave it the name it kept.
