Melbourne United

Andrew Gaze spent his career under the same colours before the club retired his number 10. That name changed once, in May 2014, when the Tigers became Melbourne United, a rebrand meant to bring Victorian basketball under one roof.

The results kept coming regardless. Four championships arrived as the Tigers, in 1993, 1997, 2006 and 2008, and two more under the new name, in 2018 and 2021, along with a run of minor premierships across 2016, 2018, 2021 and 2023. Matthew Dellavedova joined that later era in 2016 and crossed to the Sydney Kings in 2021.

Founded in 1984, the club had already won a South East Australian Basketball League title in 1983 before it ever played an NBL game, and it now runs its own academy.
