Copenhagen's football map has room for a club that grew out of a cricket pitch and a technical college. Two student sides on Frederiksberg — one playing cricket, one attached to the polytechnic — put themselves together on 26 February 1889. They are still the Academics .

The title years cluster in a way that says something about the era they belonged to. Nine Danish championships, the first in 1919, the last in 1967, with three of them arriving during and immediately after the Second World War — 1943, 1945 and 1947. Two more followed in consecutive seasons, 1951 and 1952. Then a gap, and one final championship in 1967. A Danish Cup sits alongside them.

Home is the Gladsaxe Stadion , on the edge of the capital rather than in the middle of it, and the capacity figure of 13,507 is misleading unless you read the second number with it.

Green and white are the colours. The name has caused confusion at times.
