Football in Itápolis, in the interior of São Paulo state, had a club of its own from 25 January 1921. The red-and-black kit gave it the nickname Rubrão, and there is a second one, Onça Rubro-Negra — the red-and-black jaguars.

The climbing is what the record shows. Série B2 in 1997, B1 the year after, Série A3 in 1992 and again in 2002, then Série A2 in 2003 — five state divisions won across eleven years, each one a step closer to the top flight of the Paulista championship. The Copa Paulista of 1981 had come long before any of it.

The national breakthrough arrived in 2012, when Oeste won Campeonato Brasileiro Série C and went up to Série B. It had also taken the Troféu do Interior the previous season, the prize for the best-placed interior side in the state championship.

The move away from Itápolis came in 2017, forced by problems with the home ground. Oeste went to Arena Barueri in Greater São Paulo. That arrangement ended, and by 2025 the club, now carrying the name Osasco Sporting, was again looking for somewhere to base itself.
