Basketball in Rzeszów never had a real enemy on the court. The city's derby belongs to the footballers of Stal, and the section that plays under the Bieszczady Wolves banner has spent most of its recent history fighting the league table rather than a rival, working its way back up from the third tier after money ran out around 2009.

The name it carries points elsewhere, toward the hills southeast of the city rather than any opponent. That distance from Rzeszów's own football rivalry says something about how the club sees itself: a separate tradition, older than most of what plays in front of it now, dating back to 1910 as part of the wider Resovia sports organisation.

What it has to show for that age sits almost entirely in one decade. The championship came in 1975, the Polish Cup a year earlier, with three runner-up finishes either side and bronze twice more before the 1970s were out. Nothing since has matched it. The club that plays today, rebuilt from the third division under new ownership from 2021 and known lately under sponsor names such as OPTeam, is a different generation trying to reattach itself to that decade rather than repeat it.

The Myrda name carries that thread better than any trophy list. Zdzisław Myrda played 139 times for the Polish national team and went to the 1980 Olympics; his son Wojciech left for American college basketball and finished his career at the University of Louisiana at Monroe holding the NCAA Division I record for blocked shots. A third generation now wears the shirt: Kacper Młynarski, Zdzisław's grandson, came through the club's own academy.
