Real Colorado Women

The club that carries its name has spent most of its life underground, in the academy rather than on match-day posters. Real Colorado began in 1986 as a youth soccer operation, and for years the senior women's side that grew out of it was really a graduate scheme: a place its own products passed through on the way somewhere else.

That senior team has been renamed more times than it has been champion. It started life in 2000 as Colorado Gold, turned into the Denver Lady Cougars a year later, and only in 2006 settled on Real Colorado Cougars, the name still in use. It played in the old USL W-League until that competition folded after the 2010 season, and the club went quiet at senior level after that — the academy carried on, the first team did not.

It returns for 2026, in the Western Conference's Mountain Division of the USL W League, with the comeback announced on 18 December 2025. Whatever the Cougars build now, they build on youth-team form: in 2015 the club swept the Colorado State Cup across age groups from under-12 to under-17, boys' and girls' sides alike, the kind of run that explains why families in Englewood know the badge long before any first-team result does.

Home games are set for the Real Colorado Soccer Complex, also known locally as the Pride Soccer Complex, on Real Parkway — the same ground the academy has used for years, now hosting a senior fixture list again after a gap of one and a half decades.
