«Les Cheminots»
Six league titles across more than four decades tell only part of it: the first came in 1958, the last in 2002, and in between Saint Eloi Lupopo held the Ligue 1 (Linafoot) crown through the 1960s, 1980s and into the 1990s. The 2002 season stands apart — that year the club took the championship, the Coupe du Congo and the SuperCoupe du Congo together.
The nickname, Les Cheminots, comes from Lubumbashi's railway trade, and it stuck long after the league itself moved through name changes and political upheaval in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Zaire.
Provincial and city silverware runs alongside the national record — five Katanga Provincial League titles and six championships in Lubumbashi's own EUFLU competition, the last of those as recently as 2009.
