Sanat Naft

That colour change came in 1976, when coach Manouchehr Salahi and the activist Parviz Dehdari pushed the club to swap its original white, blue and black for a Brazil-style yellow and blue kit.

The championships, when they came, were second-tier ones — Sanat Naft topped Division 2 in 1996–97 and again in 2001–02, and came closest to the top flight in 2004–05, finishing third in the Azadegan League before losing out in the promotion play-off.

The closest the club has come to a major trophy was the Hazfi Cup semi-final of 2017–18, lost 2–1 to Esteghlal. Domestically, the fixtures that matter most are the ones against fellow Khuzestan clubs Foolad and Esteghlal Khuzestan, games the local press still bill as the Khuzestan derby.
