Skanderborg IF

Skanderborg sits in eastern Jutland, a town where the football has always been the small-scale kind — a ground in the Dyrehaven parkland, a stand that holds a thousand, and a name that has changed more than once while the people watching stayed the same.

The thread runs back to Skanderborg Boldklub, founded in 1898, and it survived by folding into something else rather than by holding out alone. In 1990 Skanderborg IF merged with Skanderborg KFUM, though that reorganisation belonged mostly to handball. The football took its own route: in 2006 Skanderborg Boldklub joined with HI Skanderborg to form FC Skanderborg, the club that now plays the town's senior football. The older initials survive on paperwork and in conversation; the team on the pitch answers to the newer ones.

Home is Normal Arena, still called Skanderborg Stadion by anyone who has been going for a while, and Dyrehaven by those who have been going longer than that. The Boldklub used a ground on the Dyrehaven and Sølund side from 1935, which is roughly where the football has stayed ever since. Blue and white, a badge carrying nothing more elaborate than an F and a C.

There is no national honour to point to, and the cup has mostly been a short trip. In the 2025/26 DBU Pokalen the tie against Vejle ended 0-6 — the sort of afternoon lower-division sides accept as the price of the draw, played out in front of a crowd that could fit several times over into one corner of a Superliga ground.
