Sokol Lanžhot

Lanžhot sits hard against the Slovak border, and when villagers put together a football side there in 1922, they did not have far to look for a first opponent.
The name did not stay fixed. Communist reorganisation of sport in 1948 folded the club into the Sokol movement as JTO Sokol Lanžhot, and by 1957 it had settled on TJ Sokol Lanžhot.
Its best football came soon after. In 1955 Sokol Lanžhot became the first village club to reach the Czechoslovak Second League, and the following season it finished second there.
Promotion has come slowly since.
Home games are played at Stadion Na Šlajsi, built in 1985 to replace the old ground at Na Pastvisku.
In 2022, a hundred years on from that first trip across the border to face Šaštín, the club marked its centenary.
