When Starogard Gdański meets Trefl Sopot, the two sides call it the Derby Pomorza.
The basketball section traces back to 1957, split off from the Polfa pharmaceutical works. That changed briefly in 2011, when Starogard Gdański beat Anwil Włocławek 75–61 to take the Polish Cup and then saw off Asseco Prokom Gdynia 79–67. The season before, in 2009–10, the club had already forced its way to third place in the Polish Basketball League.
Damian Kulig came through that 2009–10 squad before going on to win 101 caps for Poland and play at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Home games are played in front of 2,500 seats at the hall named for Andrzej Grubby.
